Network Connection

Why is someone calling me while I am talking to another user? What should I do to continue my current conversation?

While talking you can call other users or receive a call. If you are called while talking, you will see the Connection request window. Click the Accept button to finish current conversation and switch to a new one, or click the Reject button to continue the current conversation.

When I'm rejecting a call how can I ask the user calling me to call later?

You can send a text message to the user whose call you are rejecting. To do this type the message in the text box in the Connecting request window and click the Reject button.

Can I connect to other users while being unavailable for them at the same time?

No.
You can change your status to "offline", but you will not be able to call other people.

What does message "You cannot call people blocked by a firewall" mean?

It means that the user you are calling is blocked by a firewall at the moment. You cannot call him/her in such situation, but he/she can call you.

How to use SeeStorm Messenger when you are under firewall?

Step 1. Get connected

Look at you system tray (it is in the lower right hand corner of your screen). Here you can see the SeeStorm Messenger icon, which shows your connection status.

If you see a green icon at system tray, it means that your firewall/proxy settings are okay, go to step 3 and call other people

If you see gray icons in the system tray, do one of the following: contact your network administrator or use dialup service to get an Internet connection instead of your LAN.

Step 2. Become green

2.1. Contact your network administrator

Your firewall-proxy settings do not allow you to enjoy the full features of SeeStorm Messenger.
In order to fix this you will need the help of your network administrator.

Provide him with the information given down below and ask him to fix the following issues, and after that you will see a green icon on the system tray, which means that you are ready to use SSM now.

Info for network administrator "How to set up firewall/proxy" for SeeStorm Messenger

1. Open UDP ports:
* 1025
* At least one from 1026-1050 range

2. Map real Internet IP address (not internal ip set by proxy) to a computer of the person wanting to use SeeStorm Messenger

2.2 Use Dialup service

Connect to the Internet using dialup service, instead of your company LAN.
For example, when you access SSM from your notebook, you will see you "a green icon" 99 out of 100 attempts.

Step 3. Call "Green" people

Look at your buddy list. Each buddy is shown with a colored icon that represents his status.
Feel free to call any people that you see with green icon. You can call them any time.

Step 4. Help you friends to become "green" too.

If you see your friend as "grey", email him a copy of this instruction, so he will be able to use SSM easier too, as you do.
