What type of microphone is best for use with SeeStorm Messenger?
Avatars are animated virtual 3D characters, which can be acquired from the web-site http://ssm.seestorm.com/avatars/. They are used by SeeStorm Messenger to make communication more personal and 'true to life'.
SeeStorm Messenger works with either headsets or speakers. Please use the facility you prefer. Messenger contain special software algorithms (Acoustic Echo Cancellation) for eliminating the possible echo. Anyway, if you feel some troubles using SSM with your particular speakers, try to use headset.
How can I plug my microphone into my computer?
Plug your microphone into your audio card input. Usually, the microphone connector is marked by color, words "mic" or "microphone", or a picture of a microphone. Find the required connector and plug the microphone into it.
How can I plug headphones into my computer?
Connect the headphones to your audio card output. Usually this connector is marked by color, words "spk" or "speakers", or the picture of headphones. Find the required connector and plug headphones into it. If there are no special marks on your audio card refer to the relevant documentation.
How can I set microphone and headphones properties?
When running SeeStorm Messenger for the first time, you will be asked to set the audio parameters. If you want to change the settings later, choose the Tools menu and click the Audio Setup Wizard.
Why doesn't my friend hear me?
First of all, make sure your microphone is plugged into your computer audio card. If the microphone is plugged try setting audio parameters. To do this, choose Audio Setup Wizard command from the Tools menu.
Why is there a delay between my words and answers?
Internet is not optimized for voice streaming. Voice delay depends on data transmission rate between your computer and your friend's computers via Internet. If you and your friend are situated in the same area, in most cases delay is the same as if you were talking on the ordinary phone. However, the delay can be longer if distance between the computers is great. In some cases, re-connecting helps to reduce delay.
Why can I sometimes hear my voice as echo when talking through SeeStorm Messenger?
Notwithstanding with the Acoustic Echo Cancellation which is built in your Messenger, if you or your buddy or both have speakers, you may rarely encounter echo effect while talking via SeeStorm Messenger. This happens because your voice travels from the speakers to your buddy's microphone and back to you. To avoid this effect, please use headphones that will not let the sound go back to microphone. |
